Quickoffice consists of three components in one app; Quickword, Quicksheet, and Quickoffice Files. Quickword creates, edits, and views Microsoft Word, Quicksheet does the same for Excel spreadsheets, and Quickoffice Files (US$1.99, click opens iTunes) is the piece that moves files to and from the iPhone as well as serving as a file viewer.

Fully functional Office 2008 for Mac trial is now available

Fully functional Office 2008 for Mac trial is now available: “companion photo for Fully functional Office 2008 for Mac trial is now available

Those who want to try out Office 2008 for Mac but don’t want to fork over hundreds of dollars just yet can now use a 30-day trial of the software. Microsoft’s Mac BU made the fully-functional trial available on its website today, noting that the trial version is convertible to a full version of the product at any time.

This means that if you decide you like Office 2008, you can upgrade directly to the Home & Student Edition or Standard Edition, and you can do so via download or from a local retailer. Thirty days is a decent amount of time to test out a productivity suite, too, so you should be able to get a feel for all the changes since the last version of Mac Office. In case you’re wondering what the Ars take on Office 2008 is, you can check out our thoughts in our first look review.

The full version of Office 2008 for Mac (Standard Edition) runs just under $400 with the upgrade going for $240. The Home and Student Edition is quite a bit cheaper at $150 for the full version (no upgrade), though it doesn’t contain Exchange capabilities that the other versions have. Microsoft promises further details about the 30-day trial on the Mac BU blog sometime later today, though an update has not yet appeared there. We’ll be sure to check back later.

You can buy a discounted copy of Office 2008 for Mac at the MacWorks Amazon Store.
